Perched majestically at a whopping height of 3,500 metres above sea level, the very first glimpse of Kedarnath Dham in itself is a breathtaking experience. As the pilgrims make their way to the Dham they are immediately engulfed in the divine aura which radiates in the atmosphere surrounding it. It looks like as if the snow clad mountains in the backdrop have made their way especially for the Kedarnath Dham. The overall aura generated by the spiritualism of this temple is what attracts numerous visitors during the pilgrimage season.

Kedarnath Temple

Kedarnath Mandir oozes and exuberate enchantingly ethereal energies in all directions. These energies and vibe are the collective result of the sages and saints of the ancient ages who had made Kedarnath their home during their peak years. all these reasons is what makes this shrine important and holds immense significance in showing the right direction for spiritual seekers. What makes this place even more crucial is the fact that the famous saint, sage and philosopher, Adi Shankaracharya had left his body right here after having established the extremely religious all India Char Dham Yatra circuit.

What is the Meaning of Lord Shiva?

Sadhguru takes it upon himself to elucidate the immense divinity which surrounds Kedarnath Dham. According to the spiritual guru’s definition the term ‘Shiva’, translates into ‘that which is not’. It is the absence of existence and is nothingness. As per the modern day scientist’s big bang theory postulates that everything came into being from nothing and will finally end with nothing. It is believed that the universe is a vast open space of nothingness where galaxies are just small and tiny specks of matter. This nothingness is known as Shiva. According to Yogic traditions Shiva is seen as an Adiyogi or the first yogi and not as god, who is said to have imparted the important science of inner well-being to the rest of the world by utilizing the help of his seven disciples, popularly termed as the Saptarishi.

The Sound of Lord Shiva

Kedarnath shrine is a gift to humanity which is believed to have been bestowed to the spiritual seekers by the lord himself. This shrine is filled with huge positive energy since numerous yogis and saints are said to have shed their bodies here. Only mentioning the word ‘Shiva’ at the holy town of Kedarnath makes the whole region reverb with intense spirituality and adds on a whole new dimension. This is the reason as to why a visit to Kedarnath Dham is believed to be potentially a life changing experience and everyone is expected to visit this place before old age dawns on them.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev

Sadhguru recalls one of his many journeys to the mighty Himalayas, where he had paid a soulful visit to Kedarnath Dham, on his own. He said that he had reached Kedarnath after travelling all the way to Gaurikund from Haridwar while sitting on top of a bus. He then trekked all the way to Kanti Sarovar from Gaurikund. Kanti Sarovar is the place where Lord Shiva is said to have explained all the science related to yoga to his disciples. Once he reached there he sat down on a rock sitting next to the lake bank and consumed the peaceful ambience surrounding him. Eventually everything around him began losing form and just sound (nada) existed. The surrounding mountain and the pristine lake and even he no longer existed in true form (Rupa) - but only in the form of nada which is sound. Everything around him and even himself was just sound. Modern scientists have also shown interest in this theory and believe that everything is just sound - which is a form of energy. Every form has a sound and in return every sound has a form. All creation is only a result of energy in movement which is known as vibrations. Each vibration is unique and has its own sound, color and visual pattern. While the vibration is slowed down enough then we are able to recognize our material world. This is why OM is known as the sound of universe.
