Reaching Yamunotri Dham is not an easy task
and requires the pilgrims to be physically as well as mentally fit. It is
located at a distance of 13 kms from Hanuman Chatti and at a distance of 7 kms from
its last and final motorable road in Janki Chatti. Janki Chatti is well
connected with a network of well-built roads that runs to and fro various
destinations in and around the main temple of Uttarakhand.

By Road
Mostly Yamunotri Yatra commences from
Dehradun and makes its way via Barkot. However, even if you are making your way
from Haridwar or Rishikesh then also you will be reaching Yamunotri easily by taking
the road to Yamunotri that diverts at the Dharasu bifurcation point. The roads
here are also well connected to roads from Chamba, Barkot etc.
The distance between Hanuman Chatti and
Phool Chatti is 5 kms via a jeep journey and from Phool Chatti to Janki Chatti
the trekking distance is 5 kms and finally the distance between Janki Chatti to
Yamunotri is 7 kms of walking on a narrow pathway that is carved out on the
mountain edge and is secured by a steel railing to keep the pilgrims safe.

By Train
The closest and one of the most easily
accessible railway station to Yamunotri is located at a distance of just 172
kms which is Dehradun railway station. On reaching the station you will be able
hire a number of cabs that charge almost Rs.3,000/- to the Dham. There are also
a number of interstate and intercity buses that ply from this station and in
order to make things easier you are free to hire a cab or a taxi service. Another
railway station you can choose is Rishikesh railway station at a distance of
212 kms. This station is also the place from where you can hire cabs and taxi
services for completing your journey further.
By Air
No matter where you are travelling from
be it from Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Bangalore, Kochi, Kerala or any other state in
India, you will be able to get a flight to the closest destination of Jollygrant airport in Dehradun which is located at a distance of just 210 kms.
Outside from this airport you will be able to avail the services of a taxi or a
cab service which will take you directly to Janki Chatti (the final motorable
road).
By Helicopter
This is probably one of the most
convenient and comfortable ways of reaching Yamunotri. Although a pricey option
this has to be one of the most smooth and luxurious ways of getting to
Yamunotri. This particular package includes a VIP Darshan priority pass along
with the alternative modes of travelling options and all the ground transfers.
In case of a helicopter Yatra you will
be made to board your flight from Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun and after a
45 minutes of travelling journey you will be reaching the helipad in Kharsali.
From here you will be transferred to the temple in a Palki. After your VIP Darshan
inside the temple you will be taken back to the helipad in Kharsali for your
journey back to Sahastradhara helipad.
