The date for door opening ceremony of Badrinath Temple has been announced. Badrinath Temple would open for Darshan on 30 April for the year 2018. The Religious Head of Badrinath temple Shri Bhuvan Uniyal added that the ceremonious Puja to ascertain the right time for the religious opening of Badrinath Temple kapat was held on the eve of Vasant Panchami at the palace of Tehri’s prior Monarch.
Raja Manujendra Shah made the decision after consultation with the royal priests and pundits on the occasion. As per which the kapat of Badrinath Temple would open at 4.30 am on 30th April of 2018.
Raja Manujendra Shah also announced his successor on the same eve. Since the King does not have son as male heir to the throne, He chose his beloved daughter Shivaja Kumari Arora as his rightful heir. Shivaja Kumari will fulfill the door opening ritual of Badrinath Temple from the next year. As per the tradition of Badrinath Temple, the date and timing for door opening ceremony of Badrinath is decided on the eve of Vasant Panchami.
It is at Badrinath that both the char Dham pilgrimages, the all India pilgrimage organized by Adi Shankaracharya and Himalayan char Dham, culminate. The sacred land finds its references mentioned in many religious works of yore like poems of Alvar saints, Skanda purana etc. In fact, Badrinath Temple is counted foremost among the Vaishnavite shrines upon earth. Visiting Badrinath is considered to be a matter of utmost blessing for any pilgrim.
